Andreas Riener is a professor for
“Human Machine Interface and Virtual Reality”
at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (THI), Germany with co-appointment as research professor for „Human Factors and Driving Ergonomics“ at the Center of Automotive Research on Integrated Safety Systems and Measurement Area (CARISSMA). In addition, he is heading the „User Experience Design (UXD)“ degree program and leading the UX design and driving simulator labs at THI. He received his PhD in computer science in 2009 (University of Linz, Austria) and was awarded the venia docendi in applied computer science in 2014. Andreas’ research interests include driver behaviour and safety, human factors in driver-vehicle interfaces, driving ergonomics, vital state estimation from physiological measures, as well as topics related to (over)trust, acceptance, and ethical issues in automated driving. He has worked on a number of EU (FP7/H2020), national, and industrial research projects, is an active reviewer for IEEE, ACM, Springer journals and conferences in the broader field of HCI and human factors. He was main organizer of the 2016 Dagstuhl seminar on “Automotive User Interfaces in the Age of Automation”.
