Giulio Bianchi Piccinini

Giulio Bianchi Piccinini (Aalborg University)

Giulio Bianchi Piccinini is an associate professor, at Aalborg University. His research focuses on traffic safety, with a special interest in the understanding of crash causation mechanisms for crashes involving different road users. Giulio’s research contribution has been mainly aimed to understand crashes and near crashes involving drivers of passenger cars and trucks as well as cyclists. The methodology used for the analysis of crash causation mechanisms is based on expert assessment and quantitative analysis of different information (e.g. video images, kinematic variables, and description of the crashes) collected in the real world (e.g. naturalistic data).
Giulio holds a PhD in Transportation Systems from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Before joining AAU, he worked for 9 years at the Crash Analysis and Prevention group at Chalmers University of Technology, at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and in the automotive industry.
Giulio is a member of the HFES Europe Chapter since 2013, and he is part of the VRC Grant Committee.
