Stephen Fairclough obtained his PhD in Psychology from Loughborough University in 2000. His research is concerned with applied psychophysiology in the context of human performance. His work has included studies of mental workload, emotion, stress and sleepiness. He also has an active research interest in human-computer interaction (HCI), particularly physiological computing paradigms where data from the human body is used as a control input to technology. His work has published in a range of journals spanning neurosciences, human factors psychology and computer science. He is the co-editor two collected works on physiological computing systems and a member of the editorial board for IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing.
