Biography Sonja Biede-Straussberger

Sonja Biede-Straussberger

Sonja Biede-Straussberger is a Human Factors Specialist at Airbus France in Toulouse. Since 2006, she holds a Doctoral degree in psychology from the Karl-Franzens-University Graz in Austria. After her master studies in psychology and educational sciences, she started to work on the issue of monotony in air traffic control at the EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre in France, linked with a PhD programme. Additional research and working activities concerned the investigation of low vigilance in air traffic control or the airborne impact of new technologies. Recent activities launched as a Research Scientist at Eurisco International focussed on issues related to authority distribution between airborne and ground actors in air traffic management as well as the development of a methodology for Human Factors Integration in the development of UAV control stations. In that context, applying multiple quantitative and qualitative methods in the lab as well as the operational aviation environment for solving real-world problems are her main interest. Her current job combines all of these subjects within the context of the European SESAR program.
