Biography Dick de Waard

Dick de Waard has worked from 1989 onwards at the University of Groningen, first at the Traffic Research Centre, later the Centre for Environmental and Traffic Psychology, now at Neuropsychology. One of his main research interests is the measurement of driver mental workload, the subject of his PhD thesis (1996). In the past years he has worked on effects of the traffic environment, such as road delineation and layout, and effects of (in vehicle) Advanced Driver Assistance Systems on young and elderly drivers’ behaviour. At present he enjoys doing research about cycling.
Dick is past-secretary of the HFES Europe Chapter, maintains the website (it's old fashioned simple html, I know, sorry, I am trying Joomla! but so far am not convinced of the use of that)) and has co-organised the Chapter’s annual meeting/conference since 2000.
